Fishing
Houhora boasts some of the best fishing in the country. Houhora
Harbour is unique because it is contains a fast flowing deep
water channel which brings sizeable snapper, john dory,
kingfish, kahawai, trevally and baitfish right to the wharf
providing brilliant safe fishing all year round. Many excellent
rock and beach fishing locations on both the East and West
Coasts. Easy access for trailer boats, Dive for crayfish or
scallops; enjoy great sport and big game fishing. The camp
has fish cleaning facilities, freezers, boat cleaning areas,
and we hire basic fishing kits.
We are perfectly located for the Snapper Classic on 90
Mile Beach, and the Houhora One Base fishing competitions.
Mick, your host is a ‘die hard fisherman’ with
great local knowledge and will tell you where the fish are
biting.
